Google Launches ‘Google Gas’ – A Synthetic Replacement for Gasoline

PHOENIX, AZ – On this historic date, Google has launched it’s newest product dubbed “Google Gas.”

Google Gas LogoUnlike other product that Google has launched in recent years, such as Gmail, Google Wave, Google Docs, and more, “Google Gas” is a physical, not electronic, product that consumers can look forward to buying.

“[Google] Gas is our most ambitious product to date, “says Alan Eustace, senior Vice President, Engineering and Research. “In the past we have launched digital services, but Gas is the first service that consumers in America can really find to be tangible.”

Google Gas is indeed a tangible product. In research and development since 2001, Google has kept it its most hush-hush project.

“With Gas… we were afraid to tip our hand,” explains Jonathan Rosenberg, Senior Vice President of Product Management. He continues, “Gas is an organic Google project. Unlike fossil based gasoline, Google Gas is purely synthetic, so we can make as much, or as little, as the market demands.”

Synthetic gasoline has been in research and development phases since the 1970’s. DARPA data shows that the United States Government failed where Google has succeeded.

“The problem is that with DARPA and similar projects relied on scientists under contract,” Eustace said. “For decades DARPA and other governments have been looking for a way to create synthetic gasoline with coal.” Eustace continues, “By utilizing our search strength, we (Google) were able to create a super computer dubbed Brainiac."

“Brainiac’s job is to search the Internet, books, and scholarly articles for solutions to global problems that we taught it to look for,” Rosenberg explains. “By using our search algorithms we were able to feed off of the research of others and use the web to fill in the gaps. In other words, by searching articles and blogs, Google has done in one year what world governments had given up on over 30 years ago.”

Rosenberg, Eustace, and the rest of Google’s team are hoping that you, the consumer, will buy their cheaper and greener fuel. After all, the coal-based gasoline that Google invented turns even the most fuel inefficient vehicle into one that ejects Prius-like CO2 outputs.

Google Gas is currently being test marketed in Phoenix, AZ, Los Angeles, CA, and Houston, TX.

Google Gas represents the first time in human history that technology has advanced the health and safety of the planet. Kudos to Google and staff for developing a positive solution within an innovative environment that everyone can use, and makes us all more aware of our carbon footprint.
